Limited companies are obligated by statute to have their accounts signed off by an accountant as the information goes into the public domain and could potentially be used by third parties for decision making on things such as credit worthiness or investment.

This does not mean that an Audit is required, SME’s with turnover less then £5.6 million and Balance Sheets of less the £2.6 million qualify for audit exemption.
